Classical Eisteddfod:

Go to

AGE GROUP SECTIONS:  Students are required to dress nicely in semi-formal/formal attire.  In other words, whatever you would deem appropriate to wear to a wedding is more than appropriate.

MUSICAL THEATRE SECTIONS:  These sections require the students to dress up as their character in a costume.  Google the song, character and musical to see what costume would suit you best.  Many costumes can be found in op shops.

When: 13th-16th of September.

Where: SJC Mercy Theatre – 11th and Ontario.

What: Competition for modern singing.

Costumes: Students are expected to present themselves with pride and careful consideration of attire. The only ‘costumes’ required are for those students entered in the musical theatre section (era, character and show specific). Otherwise, semi-formal to formal attire should be worn in other sections. Please wear sensible heels!!!! It is very awkward for an audience to see a young, beautiful woman hobbling onto the stage. Also, practice in your shoes OFTEN, as they can throw your balance.

Microphones and backing tracks: Most of the modern Eisteddfod utilizes microphones and backing CDS. Microphone technique will be taught over the course of the term. The musical theatre sections are WITHOUT microphones and as a result will most likely use live accompaniment (Cathy on piano).

MOCK EISTEDDFOD: We will have another ‘MOCK-EISTEDDFOD’ for the modern sections. Each student will sing one of their Eisteddfod pieces. Students need to be at the Hall by 5.30pm and doors open for the audience at 5.50pm. This will be a gold coin donation for audience members (to cover hall hiring fees).

Sunday 9th of September. Trinity Lutheran College – Sunset Hall. 6pm.

At Cathy Hall's residence

Prices - cost of rehearsl + cost of songs to be played in the Eisteddfod.

Money for the mock-eisteddfod will also need to be paid (if Cathy is playing for this). I will discuss this with students individually. MONEY MUST BE PAID TO CATHY AT THE REHEARSAL.
